Parts of Speech

The most recent addition to the Education Cubes Members Only site are the Parts of Speech insert cards! The 8 parts of speech included are: noun, pronoun, verb, adverb, adjective, preposition, conjunction, and interjection.  

You can use these to play some fun word identification games! Roll a part of speech, choose a word that is the part of speech rolled, and then use it in a sentence. The sillier the sentences, the more fun the game can be!

Vowel Blends

The most recent addition to the Education Cubes Members Only site are the Vowel Blend insert cards! Included are five sets of cards; one for each of the vowels {a,e,i,o,u}, paired with all the consonants.  

Does your little one need some extra practice with blending consonants and vowels? Add some active fun by using the Vowel Blend insert cards! Roll a blend and then call out a word beginning with the sound. Or use the Vowel Blend insert cards in one cube and various consonants from the Lowercase Alphabet insert cards in another cube. Roll both cubes and say the word formed! There are tons of possibilities!

There are some new Education Cubes insert cards on the Members Only Site that I am SUPER excited to share with you! If you are using the Raising Rock Stars Preschool Curriculum, then this one is for you! Zooming Over Sight Words

When Stephanie from Shining Our Lights linked up with the Show & Tell, I KNEW my boys would LOVE her idea! Check out how she created a sight word path for her son to drive his car along! Roll the cube and find the corresponding word on the sight word path. Drive the car over the words until you reach the word rolled on the cube! Read EACH word as you drive over it! LOVE IT!  So simple, yet so much fun! (FYI: Stephanie used the You Can Read! insert cards.)  Click on the photo below to see this super fun idea in action!

Easter Egg Fun!!!

Included are the Easter Egg Alphabet Cards (both upper and lower case) and the Easter Egg Counting insert cards. Use these as a fun way to practice the alphabet or as “dice” for Easter themed games!

You Can Read! from 1+1+1=1

The most recent additions to the Education Cubes Members Only site are the You Can Read! insert cards. I collaborated with Carisa from 1+1+1=1 to create these insert cards as a supplement to her new You Can Read! Sight Word Program!

Included on the Members Only site are three sets of insert cards to go along with the program:

1. Alphabetical word list
2. Word list by unit
3. Colors & Numbers

Use these insert cards with your cubes for some fun review activities! For example, roll and read the word. Roll multiple cubes and use the words in a sentence. Designed to supplement the You Can Read! program, there are tons of possibilities!

Creative Writing Prompts

The most recent addition to the Education Cubes Members Only Site are the Writing Prompt insert cards. This is the first of more sets designed to provide ideas for creative writing. This particular set comes from a list of ideas created by Keri from The Home Teacher. (You can see her complete list of journal writing prompts over on her journal wiki page.) Roll the cube to select a writing prompt and then let the creative writing begin! This provide a fun, active way of selecting a writing topic!

Working With 2 Children {Writing Letters & Words}

Spell to Write & Read {Lists A through I-4}

The most recent addition to the Education Cubes Members Only Site are the SWR Spelling Lists A-I4. The insert cards are based on the spelling lists found in Wanda Sanseri’s Spell to Write and Read program. The spelling lists {aka The Wise List} in SWR expand the words from the original Ayres List and include words from the Ekwall Basic Sight Word List, the Dolch List, the N-Ables List, and the American Heritage Word Frequency List.

 

While these cards were created with SWR users in mind, they could VERY easily be used by anyone wanting to practice reading core words used in the English language! From what I understand, many of the words found in the SWR program are also part of the All About Spelling program.

ABC Movement & Physical Activities

After a number of requests, I am excited to share a few new sets of Education Cubes insert cards with you! The most recent additions to the Members Only Site are the Alphabet Movement cards and the Physical Activity cards. These are a great way to add some physical activity to learning! (These cards were inspired by the Movement Cards found on The Home Teacher!)

The Physical Activity insert cards are like the ABC Movement cards shown above…without the alphabet emphasis!

For a fun idea, you could use some Physical Activity cards in one cube and some Phonogram cards in another. Roll both cubes. Determine the number of sounds the phonogram makes and perform the physical activity that number of times! For example, if the child rolls the phonogram “a” on one cube and the push-ups card with the other cube, the child would do 3 push-ups because the phonogram “a” makes 3 sounds.
